High-Level Political Forum on Transformation towards Sustainable and Resilient Societies

The UN High-Level Political Forum on sustainable development will meet from Monday July 9 to 18, while the ministerial meeting of the forum will be from July 16 to 18, 2018.

The theme of the HLPF is: "Transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies".

The HLPF will review progress towards some of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) including Goal 11: "Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable".

47 countries will carry out Voluntary National Reviews during the ministerial meetings.

The World Blind Union will be represented at the HLPF by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. José Viera. The WBU advocates for creating a safe, barrier free society for blind and partially sighted persons and wants countries to implement laws, standards and guidelines governing accessibility requirements.
