WBU Launches Campaign on Accessibility in Smart Cities

The World BlindUnion is delighted to launch a global advocacy campaign on Smart Cities beginning October 24 to October 31. The aim of the campaign is to demonstrate global initiatives undertaken to advocate for accessible environments.

The WBU is inviting members to share examples of activities, programs, publications or campaigns that promote the theme of urban accessibility in their countries. These examples will be collected and shared during the campaign in October.

Accessibility is a core priority of the WBU and is in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and New Urban Agenda (NUA). WBU recognizes that great challenges remain for blind and partially sighted persons to access infrastructure, facilities, public spaces and basic services. WBU is therefore fully committed to work towards a world that is increasingly accessible for all.
