COVID-19 Pandemic
June 10, 2020 1:25 pmCommuniqué from the Latin American Blind Union (ULAC) and the Regional Center for the Promotion of Books in Latin America and the Caribbean (CERLALC-UNESCO) regarding the emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic
The necessary contingency measures implemented by the governments of Latin America to contain and mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus, have widened the gap in access to education and cultural assets of the blind or low vision population that is currently abiding by isolation measures. The Pandemic has deepened the difficulties in accessing books, school texts, and quality education and the digital ecosystem, despite the different government programs deployed to prevent it.
