Toolkit on Disability Africa

This Module provides guidance for the development and implementation of national action plans that either focus directly on disability or include a significant disability dimension. The module explains the role national action plans can play in advancing implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and realizing disability inclusive development; general principles applicable to the development and implementation of disability-inclusive national action plans; practical guidance on the preparation, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of national plans; etc. Read more

AFUB Annual Report 2018

“In 2018, more than 30 years since AFUB’s establishment, our collaboration with other disability actors coupled with our engagement with the African Union towards policies and practices that guarantee the rights and inclusion of blind and partially sighted persons in Africa at all levels, contributed to the adoption by the African Union Assembly of the Draft Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Africa, referred to as the African Disability Protocol (ADP)”. African Regional Human Rights Project

The AFUB Disability and Human Rights project was implemented in 2015-2017 with the support of the Swedish MyRight through SRF. The project objective was “Increased capacity of AFUB, GBU and NFVI to promote human rights of persons with visual impairment in Africa using the UNCRPD as an advocacy tool”. The project worked within the elements of organisational capacity, advocacy and strategic deliveries complementing each other.
